Cycling Culture of Flanders

A ride along quiet rural roads with beautiful views of the countryside first takes you to the clubhouse of Vespa Club Roeselare.

From there, the journey continues towards KOERS – Museum of Cycle Racing, which features three main collections:

Bicycle Collection The highlight of KOERS is its extensive bicycle collection. With more than 300 bicycles spanning nearly 200 years, it offers a representative overview of the evolution of cycling and competitive racing.

Competitive Cycling Collection This collection mainly consists of jerseys and other racing garments. With an international scope, it is enriched through donations, carefully selected acquisitions, and long-term loans. KOERS works closely with private collectors to expand and preserve this unique archive.

Documentary Collection Covering the period from the late 19th century to the present, this collection includes over 2,400 publications, 180 metres of magazines and newspapers, 30 metres of archives, and hundreds of thousands of photographs. Its breadth and diversity make it unique among cycling-related collections worldwide.

After the museum visit, we will enjoy lunch.

The ride then continues into the Diksmuide region. Along the way, we will stop for an ice cream next to the Blankaart water reservoir, which holds 15 million litres of water.
